2026 PROGRAM COMING SOON...
WHY A FESTIVAL?
The Ocean Lovers Festival exists to bridge a critical gap in the climate conversation where the ocean, our planet’s life support system, is too often overlooked. Although one in every two breaths we take comes from the ocean, there remains a striking lack of ocean literacy and awareness about its vital role in regulating climate and sustaining life.
Sydney, as a global ocean capital and coastal city deeply connected to the sea, provides the perfect stage for this movement.
The Festival unites community, science, business, and culture to celebrate the ocean while showcasing solutions that empower people to take tangible steps toward change. Acting as a voice for the ocean, it creates a platform where awareness meets action, ensuring the ocean is given the prominence it deserves in building a sustainable future.

OCEAN SMART SCHOOLS
Inspire the next generation of ocean changemakers! Our Ocean Smart Schools program brings ocean literacy and sustainability to life for K–12 students through fun, hands-on incursions, creative competitions like Fish Tank and Litterarty, and engaging excursions that connect classroom learning to real-world ocean challenges. Aligned with the NSW and Australian Curriculum, this dynamic program sparks curiosity, builds knowledge, and empowers students to take action for a healthier blue planet.

Ocean Lovers Festival acknowledges the Bidjigal, Birrabirragal and Gadigal people, who occupied, and never ceded the Sydney Coast. We share their passion to care for country, and respect their traditions that protect and nurture the land and sea.
