Guided by the expert educators from Fizzics Education, students will explore innovative ways to reduce waste, protect marine life, and contribute to ocean conservation. Ocean Smart Schools equips students to take their knowledge from the classroom to become ocean champions in their schools, homes, and communities, fostering a sense of optimism and purpose as they are invited to solve ocean sustainability issues alongside us.

importance of ocean health and take meaningful action.

WHAT HAPPENS
During our Ocean Smart Schools workshop, students dive into the world of ocean health and sustainability through a range of interactive activities, engaging games, and hands-on experiments. Our educators introduce topics such as the abiotic factors that affect marine life, marine ecosystem health, the impact of human actions, and practical ways students can contribute to ocean protection. The workshop includes group discussions, Q&A sessions, and a wrap-up to reinforce learning and encourage reflection on key insights that foster a sense of hope.
LOGISTICS
Our team brings the Ocean Smart Schools Program to your school, setting up in a classroom, gymnasium, or outdoor space. We arrive approximately 45 minutes early to prepare materials, equipment, and handouts, ensuring a seamless experience. We ask schools to provide parking for our team and any specific setup needs in advance.

Appropriate for Years K to 6 with a maximum of 240 students per science show workshop

Access to 2 electrical power sockets and 3 tables on stage

Duration 60 minutes, set up time 45 minutes and pack up time 45 minutes

Parking onsite due to the large amount of equipment needed.
COST
The workshop fee is $1950 per day, covering all educational materials, travel expenses, and educator fees plus workbook and access to competitions with lesson plans. We can run up to 3 workshops per day from Kindergarten to Yr 6. This does not change the cost for the school but can significantly reduce the per student cost. This pricing structure ensures that each student can access a high-quality, impactful learning experience focused on gaining a better understanding on ocean health, sustainability and advocacy.
CURRICULUM LINKS
The Ocean Smart Schools Program aligns with the NSW Science and Geography syllabus and the Australian Curriculum, emphasising environmental sustainability and ecosystem interactions. Students will explore concepts like the abiotic factors that affect ocean life, ocean health, the interconnectedness of ecosystems, and how small, positive actions can impact the environment. This reinforces classroom learning while providing practical, real-world applications for their knowledge and alleviating climate anxiety through empowering solutions.
