The SEA SCIENCE STUDENT EXPO will bring you awesome interactive experiences,
captivating talks, and some of the latest innovation and technology saving our seas.

INSPIRE your students with a planet-saving passion for ocean innovation. Following the enthusiastic response from teachers and students at the inaugural Sea Science Student Expo at our 2023 Ocean Lovers Festival, we are excited to announce its 2024 return.
If your secondary students are considering undergraduate studies in fields such as science, technology, innovation and environmental science, and are passionate about the ocean, this will be a perfect opportunity to inspire them towards decisions about their tertiary education.

You can bring a select small group of your most passionate, engaged students or a whole class or year, or more. The choice is yours. We just ask that if you register to attend and later, due to unforeseen circumstances, you can no longer attend, please let us know immediately so we have time to open the spots up to other students who may be on the waiting list.

The annual Ocean Lovers Festival in Bondi showcases world-leading innovations created by Australian marine scientists that are positively changing our world. Projects like the Living Seawalls (a global Earthshot Prize finalist), Operation Crayweed (restoring Sydney’s coastal habitat), underwater drones, coral restoration, seahorse protection and research into developing a bluebottle prediction tool have all been highlights previously.
Secondary school students are invited to a half-day expo at the Bondi Pavilion on Thursday, March 21, to see  art displays, listen to inspiring ocean science and innovation and meet marine scientists and course leads from participating universities and other marine institutions:

  • Hear about study options in science, particularly marine-related;
  • Ask questions to scientists and faculty staff;
  • Be inspired by past science students career opportunities post their degrees;
  • See how science helps restore nature and support our ocean.

Numbers are limited so register early to avoid disappointment. Please note, whilst this excursion is free to attend, there will be a fee of $50 cancellation fee if schools cannot attend and do not cancel before March 1, 2024.

Can’t make it this year? Don’t forget to mark your calendar for the Expo in March 2025 and register your interest on the same registration link below!
