The Marine Debris Trashion Show – Beach Couture: A Haute Mess is a striking showcase of wearable art made entirely from ocean waste. Inspired by the work of Sydney-based "artivist" Marina DeBris, this eye-opening event highlights the environmental impact of marine debris. Through provocative, playful, and sometimes shocking designs, the show transforms discarded beach waste into high-fashion statements. From gowns adorned with plastic utensils to dresses crafted from polystyrene containers, each piece challenges audiences to reconsider our throwaway culture.

We don’t know what will remain of us centuries from now but one thing’s certain: there will be plastic, lots of plastic.
Plastic pollution has become ubiquitous in our oceans and on our shores. The Trashion Show is a collection of wearable pieces made from trash collected from the beaches and oceans. It makes visible, in grotesquely amusing fashion, what is often overlooked--but shouldn’t be. Ideally, viewers will be provoked to take some action in their everyday use of plastic items.
